I
am in the minority that just liked the book and not loved it. I love
the idea of a circus just appearing in the night and that you could only
attend it at night. I love that it's all black and white and kinds of
different things go on in the individual tents. 
I
was confused during a lot of the book, trying to figure out how certain
people even pertained to the circus. Maybe I just didn't get it, maybe I
was just too sleepy, either way, that's how it is.
I very much
loved different parts of the book that seemed so magical and I don't
mean..pull a rabbit out of your hat.. I mean the story line, how the
author told it in such a way that you felt transported to another time. I
would love to go to this circus! I would probably spend most of my time
in the ice garden, but I love the cold sooo.... It just sounds like a
magical place to be and I wish we could have read more about the things
going on in the tents.
I love Celia and Marco. I do not like
they were pitted against each other by their masters to see who will win
in the "magic" game. I think these two were such sweet characters even
if their masters weren't all that great to them. Well, Celia's father
was her master and he seemed pretty evil. I will leave that for you to
read about.
I would like to try this book again another day to
see if I can get my head around the parts I just didn't get. I think
this book has a lot of magic inside. :)

I
have always loved Drew Barrymore so I was excited to read this new
book. Drew says in the preface that she didn't write the book in any
particular format, it's not a sweeping life story but an elaboration on
times in her life as she remembered them. I thought the way it was
written, with the back and forth from different years of Drew's life was
awesome.
In the beginning chapter of the book, Drew talks about
having an avocado tree in their tiny backyard and a cascading
bougainvillea flower out front. She felt close to nature with these
flowers and tree. She was especially sentimental about the avocado
tree....

In fact the significance of the avocado tree is still as strong as
can be for me. I even have it in my will that I want to be buried under
one, or have some of my ashes put there. Some avocado tree preferably
on a hill that is nowhere near anything this time. Just up on a rolling
mountain, preferably with an ocean view. I can dream!

Drew
talks about different friendships through out the years. She talks
about her business "Flower" with her best friend, which makes movies, a
cosmetic line and many other ventures.
Drew talks about how her
mom wasn't really a mom to her and she was emancipated at a young age.
Her dad was a hippie with another story you will just have to read
about.
I loved the story she told about her dogs! Being a dog
lover, this would appeal to me. She spent many wonderful years with
three dogs she rescued and had a most wonderful bond. They were her
family until she made another family of her own. The dogs were Flossy,
Templeton and Vivian. 
Flossy
outlived all of them and it was sad hearing about them passing away,
even when Flossy passed. They all had a wonderful life, I can tell you.
I love that she has dogs with her daughters, they named them Lucy (my dogs name!) and Douglas. Drew says:
The
house is chaos sometimes when the dogs are trying to eat the kids' food
or jumping into the tub with them. But it's worth it. Life with dogs is
better. I just wouldn't have it any other way. They say that dogs can
give and receive love through their eyes. The unspoken ability to lock
in and actually feel love between human and animal is an extraordinary
thing.•••••
I love when she talks about her
beautiful girls, Olive and Frankie. I would say for her this is her best
moment of her life, having those girls and bringing them up to be
strong women. 
There
is a little section called Dear Olive and Dear Frankie. They are so
sweet, I will add some words Drew said to each of them.

I love you in the way where you discover the most selfless true
love that one can experience. You are the keeper of my heart. The love
of my life. You are trying to just figure it all out right now, but the
truth is, I can't wait till you will just collapse in my arms and stay

To say I love you is the understatement of the world. To show that
I do for the rest of my life will be my honor and my pleasure. As I
sing to you the tune of "Rubber Duckie" ... "Little Frankie, you're the

This is the cutest little book. The drawings are so sweet and the little
bits of information and whit from the author are very interesting! I
didn't know there were that many owl species, although I'm sure there
are a lot more than listed in this book!

I
think this owl is just beautiful! The book says this goth Barn Owl is
not dangerous in any way--except to the small rodents and bugs that he
stalks through the eucalyptus forests of northern Australia, his
jet-black wizard's cloak contrasting brilliantly with his white
markings, shining as bright as the stars of the southern hemisphere.
I like some of the descriptions in this book :) Next: Snowy Owl
I
couldn't leave this owl out... Harry Potter... anyway, the book states,
a monarch of the tundra, the Snowy Owl is a whopper, close to an
eagle-owl in height and hunting prowess, feeding upon lemmings,
ptarmigans, and other winter fare by snatching her prey with her massive
moonboots. To protect against the cruel temperatures of the arctic, her
feet are ensconced in thick feathers, styled in a brilliance of frosted
white.
I loved this little book of owls. I loved the drawings
and being able to google the real owl and seeing how brilliant they
truly are and I would recommend this for any owl lover. I might have to
get one for my cousin that loves owls, but she can look up all of the
real owls herself! :)

Hello, welcome to Derry.. I'm Pennywise the Clown and at some
point, especially if your a kid, I will eat your face off! Have a nice
day!
The
first time I read this book was in the 6th grade and I had forgotten
how good it was! I loved the movie as well, but the book is so much
better!
I love how Mr. King goes back and forth from when the
friends were kids and to them as adults and what they do in life now,
while they are on their way back to Derry. See, when they were young and
all became friends, they made a pact that if "IT" ever came back so
would they.
IT showed itself to them in many different creeptastic ways but "IT" showed itself more as Pennywise the Clown!
Bill's
little brother Georgie was the first one to be.. um.. eaten... by
Pennywise. I'm sorry, I don't care how old I am, if I saw a creepy clown
down in a drain-gutter thingy (leave me alone, I forgot the name!) I
would have ran until I fell over! I mean..no..no...no.. and NO! 
Bill,
Eddie, Ben, Richie, Stan, Beverly, and Mike are all friends. I love
each of their separate stories and I love their friendship together.
They are all picked on by the town bully/jerk named Henry Bowers, but
when they are together Henry can just go on down the road when the
little group gets their courage and attacks Henry and his gang.
I
love the camaraderie between the friends and how they believe each
others stories of meeting Pennywise, even when he wasn't in clown form.
They didn't ridicule each other, they watched out for each other the
best they could. 
At
one point they think they kill ole Pennywise, but after many years and
the killing of kids starts happening again, Mike, who stayed in Derry at
the library, calls everyone home. It's weird how they all forget
anything that ever happened to them until they get that phone call. It's
like they were made to forget.
And there is sweet Pennywise to welcome them back! Uggggg, clowns!!!!!!!!
I
know there are some people out there that hasn't read the book so I
won't give out any spoilers for them, but one of the group commits
suicide before anything even gets started and another of the group gets
killed before they kill Pennywise for good.. or is IT really dead? I
think Mr. King should bring him back with a whole new set of peeps that
have to take him out :) Yes, I'm not quite right in the head!
This
is a very long book to read, but you know good books like this one
really doesn't matter the length, when they are written very well, it
just doesn't seem like a tome. Well, with the exception of holding the
book up if you have joint issues, just let it rest quietly on your lap
tray while you read :)
I didn't get bored not one time in this
book, I did, however want to shoot a few people and of course
Pennywise... but I digress.
At the end Mr. King wrote:This book was begun in Bangor, Maine, on September 9th, 1981, and completed in Bangor, Maine, on December 28th, 1985.That's
a good amount of time and would explain how freaking good the book was
in all of the detail. The detail was just awesome!

This story takes place 25 years after the murder of a 4 year-old little
boy named Justin. Janet, his older sister by just a few years was
supposed to be watching him. They were in the park playing and there
were people and children all around. Janet's best friend Michael showed
up and they were talking and playing. Somehow, little Justin disappears
and no one knows exactly what happened. Kids and adults saw different
things and someone was accused of the murder. It's just not safe
anywhere. 
How
can a little boy just disappear and be found in the woods at the park
in a little grave two months later. Did they get the right man? 
Twenty-five
years later on the anniversary of Justin's death things are being
brought up again. The killer has been released. A police detective isn't
sure they got the right man. Janet and her daughter Ashleigh are living
with Janet's dad as he is down and out in bad times. Janet's best
friend Michael returns to town after no word for several years. And
there is a mysterious stranger creeping around and leaving cryptic
remarks to Janet. 
The
book has a lot of twists and turns. Right when you think it's going one
way, it takes off in another direction. I did not see that ending
coming. Nothing is what it seems at all and the saddest thing is, that
sweet little boy was killed for something so stupid.. just adults
creating problems they should never have caused in the first place.
All-in-all I thought it was a good mystery.

Who doesn't love Frankenstein? 
I thought the book was okay for what it was, I loved the concept. I just
didn't love the book to death. That being said, there will be tons of
people to love this book and that is great :)
As you can read in
the blurb, Victoria (Tor) Frankenstein takes after her late father in
the Science department, but she goes a little bit further and creates
her own re-animated being. She does this with the help of her best
friend Owen, which he wasn't on board with at first, but you kinda have
to when it happens.. right? right?
Tor names "him" Adam and he
doesn't recall any memories of who he really is.. just nothing. Adam is
very sweet and acts like Tor is his mama, which, I guess she is this
time around! I mean he's not a randomly pieced together boy, he was in a
tragic accident and then boom...he's back :)
I guess what got
me for the story is when right the next day they take him to school
before teaching him too much of anything. There were some fun things go
on at school that involved Adam.
There are some twists, turns and some other things that will lead up to the next book.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this book, but I was pleasantly
surprised that I did :) I fell in love with so many characters in the
book. I felt so bad for Josie having a mother who was a prostitute and
didn't care for her at all. The brothel her mom was living in was owned
by a woman named Willie and I really loved her. Willie's character was
of a good woman, even though she ran a brothel. She was kind to those
that needed to be kind to and put people right in their place if they
needed that as well. I loved the fact that she became more of a mom to
Josie than Josie's real mom. She taught her how to shoot guns and use
her head. She gave her a job as a cleaner, unfortunately this involved
cleaning up after all of the women after the fact the next day. Ewww!:)
For
some reason, I kept picturing Willie as the character from one of my
favorite movies, "Spirited Away". I kept picturing Yubaba when I read
anything about Willie! LoL
The book is set in 1950's New Orleans as you can read in the blurb. 
Josie
lived above a bookstore that she also worked in, she lived there since
she was a little girl of 12. The owner and author Charlie was very kind
to her, she also worked with Charlie's son Patrick who was like a
brother to her.
Josie's mom is trouble with a capital T. She seems to be in on stealing, murders, drugs and who knows what all else.
Josie
meets a nice man that comes into the bookstore. She likes him because
he seems like a really nice person and it seems there's not too many men
like that around...but..he gets murdered and this really upsets Josie,
there is a lot more to it but I won't get into that.
Josie
decides she wants to try to get into a prestigious college away from New
Orleans and does some really smart things to try to help her get there!
Josie has had so many let downs in her life.
There is another
character I love in the book, it's Cokie, he is Willie's driver. He
loves driving around in Willie's Caddy :) He is a really sweet
character. Some of the girls at the brothel are very sweet to Josie too.
There is also a nice guy named Jesse that I had a crush on and it
seemed Josie did too :)
The characters in this book are rich in
detail and the way the author weaves the story makes you think your
right there with Josie!
The ending was sad and brought tears to
my eyes.. well a few things brought tears to my eyes.. tears of sadness
and tears of happiness.
I was all over the place with this
review, but Lord, I was trying my best not to give out spoilers! I have a
hard time with that, I would liked to have talked in more detail about
people and what all went on, I will just say... read the book :)
I look forward to reading more books by this author as this was my first by her :)

BLOODY HELL! I HAVE CRIED SO HARD OVER THIS BOOK! I LOVE THIS
BOOK, I DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ARSE WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS, THIS BOOK WAS
SO DAMN SAD. I FELL IN LOVE WITH SUGAR... AND LET ME GET THROUGH SOME OF
THESE GIFS SO I CAN TELL HER STORY.
This book has just broken my heart! Just torn it apart and put it back together :(
Sugar's
name is Mercy, but her mom named her Sugar when she was little because
she found her in a room as a baby with a spoon eating out of the sugar
bag. She thought it was funny. Sugar's mom is a b*tch!
Sugar has
an older brother named Fat Henry and he moved out long ago. She has
another older brother that lives with her and her mom and he is called
Skunk from an unfortunate accident when he was a child. Skunk is a demon
to Sugar, God I hate him! He beats her up, calls her names, he's just
evil. Sugar's mom also calls her a fat slob, lazy.. blah blah.. yet this
woman took to her bed years ago and has Sugar wait on her hand and foot
because she's too fat to get off the bed.
This woman/thing
would feed Sugar and the other kids all kinds of food growing up, but
Sugar got the brunt of it. She would say eat more Sugar, you need to
grow. Filling her full of carbs and sugar like I have never seen in my
life! Now, poor Sugar is almost eighteen and she's obese and loves to
eat. They all still eat crap food constantly. I was sickened reading
what all they were eating, the amounts of it all.
Sugar has been
bullied at school all of her life for being overweight. I mean these
kids are so damn cruel. Then she meets Even, yes that's how it's
spelled, you can read it in the blurb. He is a new kid and he is so nice
to her. He doesn't care that she is overweight and he even actually
gets her to lose weight by going on walks together and just talking.
He
stands by her through everything. No one can believe the hot guy wants
to hang out with her.. but guess what.. he does, he's nice so they can
all suck it!
He has problems at home with his dad being a drunk.
His mom died in childbirth. He's building a Harley so he can travel the
places his mom wanted to go that he read in her journal and he wants to
spread her ashes at the sea.
Even teaches Sugar how to ride his
Harley once he gets it ready and she gets her license when she turns
eighteen. They have so many wonderful adventures together. I can't give
out all of the spoilers.
Sugar can open up to him. She tells him
of how when her grandmother Boo was still alive, she teaches her how to
sew and she makes a lot of clothes. You know, things like that. Sugar
is a good person as I have said before. She goes to church on Sunday's
and prays for her family. She just wants to have a normal family but
that doesn't really happen. She gets bullied at home and school!
At one point, something really bad happens.. I had to put the book down for a little bit because of the crying.
After
a tragedy, Sugar gets into counseling and makes some strides in
understanding her life. I forgot to mention her father left when she was
young, but there is a whole other story to that... it's not what it
seems or what she was told actually.
One day Sugar was leaving
school and as she goes to get into her car to leave, she sees it's
covered in donuts. Those jerks were still bullying her after the
tragedy. They suck so bad. But by learning from Even and her therapist,
this is what she had to say to them.

feel sorry for all of you if your idea of humor is insulting the way
someone looks. Yeah, I may be different, but in addition to my pity, you
also deserve my gratitude. Going on four years, you have all done a
solid job of teaching me who I am, but it’s not who you think. I’m a
good person, and I am going to do great things.” I pause, but decide to
leave it at that.
“So, see ya around and—“ I smile my beautiful

I
love all of these coloring books they are coming out with, I can't even
tell you have many I have! But who doesn't love coloring?!
I
started one page using gel pens, I usually use colored pencils, but I
think it's looking okay with the pens. I picked a crazy one with all
kinds of colors blending together :)
