Gwendy's Button Box by Stephen King & Richard Chizmar

The little town of Castle Rock, Maine has witnessed some strange events and unusual visitors over the years, but there is one story that has never been told... until now.

There are three ways up to Castle View from the town of Castle Rock: Route 117, Pleasant Road, and the Suicide Stairs. Every day in the summer of 1974 twelve-year-old Gwendy Peterson has taken the stairs, which are held by strong (if time-rusted) iron bolts and zig-zag up the cliffside.

At the top of the stairs, Gwendy catches her breath and listens to the shouts of the kids on the playground. From a bit farther away comes the chink of an aluminum bat hitting a baseball as the Senior League kids practice for the Labor Day charity game.

One day, a stranger calls to Gwendy: "Hey, girl. Come on over here for a bit. We ought to palaver, you and me."

On a bench in the shade sits a man in black jeans, a black coat like for a suit, and a white shirt unbuttoned at the top. On his head is a small neat black hat. The time will come when Gwendy has nightmares about that hat...

Journey back to Castle Rock again in this chilling new novella by Stephen King, bestselling author of The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, and Richard Chizmar, award-winning author of A Long December. This book will be a Cemetery Dance Publications exclusive with no other editions currently planned anywhere in the world! @goodreads

I listened to the audio version of this book through the library Overdrive but I'm going to buy a copy from Audible. Maggie Swift from Sons Of Anarchy was the narrator and she was awesome!

I loved that there was a little talk with Stephen King and Richard Chizmar at the end. Just listening to them was cool.

There is also a short story at the end of the first book called, "The Music Room." This is a tiny short story by Stephen King. Just a little tad bit of horror to add to your day.

I also have to say how much I love the cover of the book. When I first saw it I never really paid much attention to it. When I was listening to it I started to really look at the pictures and noticed all of the wonderful things that are added. You can see the suicide steps, the town, Gwendy talking to the man in the black hat. I just think it's lovely.

This isn't some big ole horror story. It's just a story of Gwendy and how she comes across the button box that she owns for a good portion of her life. There are secrets about the box. I thought they were pretty awesome. In some ways I could see how the box would be a terrifying thing to have in your possession for a few different reasons that I won't say.

I just fell in love with the story. I fell in love with Gwendy's character. And I hated one ole jerk in the book. I hated him really bad. Karma dude, karma.

I'm going to get a physical copy of the book too because there are just some books you love for whatever reason and you want to own them. It's just that simple.

Enjoy ♥

Artemis by Andy Weir

The bestselling author of The Martian returns with an irresistible new near-future thriller—a heist story set on the moon

Jazz Bashara is a criminal.

Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent.

Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of her problems, as she learns that she's stepped square into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself—and that now, her only chance at survival lies in a gambit even riskier than the first. @goodreads

This book freaking rocks!!

No, seriously. The book does have science in it but it's not too bad. This is mostly about Jazz who has lived on the moon since she was 6 and now she's in her 20's. Her dad lives on the moon too but they had a falling out and she makes it on her own by doing. . . things.

I love the character of Jazz. She's funny and does crazy things but never anything to hurt any one.

AND SHE LIVES ON THE MOON!

Jazz doesn't live in the good part of town. Yes, the city on the moon is called Artemis and they have their rich side and poor side. It's just too awesome to read about.

Jazz does some odd jobs as a porter but she also brings in contraband and no it's nothing bad.

She has a cool friend she emails from Earth, his name is Kelvin. I love their talks.

Rich people come to the moon every year to spend their holiday. They stay in the fancy hotels and spend tons of money in the shops. Regular folk save up their money so they can come for a once in a life time stay.

But, life on the moon isn't all that it's cracked up to be. There just has to be some evil mobness going on. There are life and death situations and Jazz in put on the spot to save the whole city.

That's all I'm saying, you need to read it for yourself. If you loved The Martian (which I did) you will love this book. At least I think you will, I did because IT'S THE MOON! THEY ARE LIVING ON THE MOON!

And I have to mention some of the people I loved in the book:
Svoboda
Dale
Lene
Kelvin
Bob
Jazz dad

and some randoms =)

*I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book*

Cvareh returns home to his sky world of Nova with the genius crafter Arianna as his temperamental guest. But before Ari can complete her campaign of revenge, the Crimson Court exposes her shadowed past and reveals something even more dangerous sparking between her and Cvareh.

While Nova is embroiled in blood sport and political games, the rebels on Loom prepare for an all-out assault on their Dragon oppressors. Florence unexpectedly finds herself at the forefront of change, as her unique blend of skills -- and quick-shooting accuracy -- makes her a force to be reckoned with. For the future of her world, she vows vengeance against the Dragons.

Before the rebellion can rise, though, the Guilds must fall. @goodreads

♥ Love my swag ♥

Okay, so I got a little excited and pre-ordered the kindle version like I did the first book. Then I got more excited and got the Hardback with a coupon like I did the first book. And this time since I have joined audible, I got the audio that was on sale. Lol, but look at all the wonderful stuff I got just like I did with the first book. *Swoon* ↑

OMG! Half way through the book I'm sitting on the edge because of the sexual tension!!!!!!! For the love of Pete, someone have sex with someone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please hold for a brief intermission

Okay, so this book was amazeballs! I loved it so much. It was even better than the first book and I loved it too.

Cvareh has taken Arianna to Nova to meet with his sister who is a head honcho and see if they can't work something out between Nova and Loom. Petra (said sister) wants to make something and Arianna has the means to do it. This would also mean that Nova and Loom would have to come together and they don't really want that, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet.

Cvareh and Arianna have a connection and that's all I'm saying because I'm not getting started again.

Arianna is sooooooooooooooo bored for quite some time and has to hang around this jerk named Cain because Cvareh would not come and see her. I was feeling bored for her but then some things happen. Just gross things and we are off and away.

Then some fighting, then some poisoning, then someone being stupid, some sex, cutting off of hands and sewing someone else's on and random other tidbits. < --- these are not all in order.

The ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to smack so many people. Holy crap on a cracker!!!!!!!! I have to wait forever and 9 years for the next book! Well, not that long but I digress.

Enjoy peeps ♥

Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland

John Green meets Rainbow Rowell in this irresistible story of first love, broken hearts, and the golden seams that put them back together again.

Henry Page has never been in love. He fancies himself a hopeless romantic, but the slo-mo, heart palpitating, can't-eat-can't-sleep kind of love that he's been hoping for just hasn't been in the cards for him—at least not yet. Instead, he's been happy to focus on his grades, on getting into a semi-decent college and finally becoming editor of his school newspaper. Then Grace Town walks into his first period class on the third Tuesday of senior year and he knows everything's about to change.

Grace isn't who Henry pictured as his dream girl—she walks with a cane, wears oversized boys' clothes, and rarely seems to shower. But when Grace and Henry are both chosen to edit the school paper, he quickly finds himself falling for her. It's obvious there's something broken about Grace, but it seems to make her even more beautiful to Henry, and he wants nothing more than to help her put the pieces back together again. And yet, this isn't your average story of boy meets girl. Krystal Sutherland's brilliant debut is equal parts wit and heartbreak, a potent reminder of the bittersweet bliss that is first love.@goodreads

One of those, "Why did I take so long to read this book?" This book broke my heart a little bit.

I loved Henry and Grace's characters so much. I loved Henry's friends so much. But, the story was just so freaking sad. I wanted to know, had to know, what happened to Grace to make her the way she was in the book. Why was she so unkempt, why did she wear men's clothes, why didn't she bathe that often, why did she walk with a limp? I had a couple of different scenario's and it finally came together I guess half-way through the book.

I get invested in my books. I feel things when I read them and I empathize with what is written. This book is no exception, it tore at my heart strings for three people that couldn't be . . . .

It was beautiful and sad and wonderful all at the same time.

I freaking loved it! This one is even better than the first one. Maika Halfwolf, Kippa, and Captain Ren are all together again in this one. They aren't that great but you will get an idea of some of the awesome graphics and creatures =) And they are not in order, just like my life!

GOODREADS REVIEW:

Spirited Away Picture Book ~ Hayao Miyazaki

This illustrated book tells the story of the animated feature film Spirited Away. Driving to their new home, Mom, Dad, and their daughter Chihiro take a wrong turn. In a strange abandoned amusement park, while Chihiro wanders away, her parents turn into pigs. She must then find her way in a world inhabited by ghosts, demons, and strange gods. @goodreads

I bought this picture book a long time ago. I was looking for some in depth books or manga on my favorite movie of all time, Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki. I will be adding several gifs of the movie toward the end but they are in no kind of order. I wanted to put the whole movie on here, but you know.

I remember years ago, me and my boyfriend at the time, were getting ready to go to bed. It was pretty late and I happened to turn it on cartoon network and saw this amazing movie. We ended up watching it and another Miyazaki movie after. There was some kind of marathon that weekend and we were glued to the tv. I ended up buying all of the movies available on dvd, which I have now converted most to blu-ray.

Anyhooooooooooooo, Spirited Away is my favorite of his movies and my favorite movie of all time as I said.

At the beginning of this book there is a cast of characters. I thought that was cool because they have names for a couple of the creatures and things that I never knew.

I will try my best to explain the jist of the movie/book.

Chihiro and her family are moving to their new home. Chihiro's father takes a wrong turn and they end up at a dead end. There is some kind of old broken down station house and they go through. Then they see more old buildings and smell food. Chihiro keeps trying to call them away but they enter this town and start eating this food.

Chihiro ends up walking around and she sees a bath house. Then there is a boy named Haku and he is yelling at her to run and get back across before it's night and the river is there. Of course, this sounds all kinds of crazy but Chihiro runs back to get her parents and they have turned into pigs. They have been cursed by the witch, Yubaba for eating the spirits food.

Chihiro is stuck in this world of spirits now and Haku helps her get a job at the bathhouse. She has to try to find a way to help her parents and herself. Chihiro ends up making some wonderful friends at the house and there are some really funny moments and some moments that really got into my heart. I cried and well, I just can't explain it.

Lastly, I would like to say I think everyone should watch this movie. I think there are things in it for everyone.

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

There will be plenty of time for me to beat him soundly once I’ve gotten what I came for.

Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map—the key to a legendary treasure trove—seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.

More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate, Riden. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.@goodreads

This was in my March Owlcrate, I'm a bit late reading it.

I loved this book. The pirate captain, Princess Alosa, was bad to the bone and I loved it!

Alosa was taken by another pirate and his crew. Captain Draxen and his brother Riden thought they got lucky by capturing the pirate king's daughter. Ha, little did they know.

******SOME SPOILERS******

Alosa was sent to this ship by her own father, to be taken as a prisoner. She is on a quest to find some maps. She has to pretend she's not as bad @ssed as she is. I mean she does put the beat down on some of the men and but she holds back all that she can do.

I loved the banter between Alosa and Riden. He's yummy, nothing like a yummy pirate. His brother, Draxen was a jerk though.

There is not a whole lot going on while on the ship so I can see why some people wouldn't like it, but I myself, thought it was great. Yeah, some stuff had me saying, "Lets get on with it." But, I digress.

They get into it with some other jerks and we find out revelations! Everything is about REVELATIONS! I loved the revelation! One more time, REVELATION =)

At any rate, I enjoyed the book and I will continue on with the series/duology/trilogy?
