Fae Crate May Unboxing ~ My First Box From Them

Hi guys! This is my first ever Fae Crate Box. I'm a little disappointed because I didn't get a spoiler card so this is going to be a crappy showing for you guys as I can't tell you from what books things were inspired from =( Also, I'm surprised the stupid mail service didn't tear something as the box was beat up and ripped really bad. But, I'm going to show you the things anyway and tell you what they are at least.

First up we have the beautiful Fae Crate Coin! I love the words on this one and I love the little bag it comes in!

Next we have a cool pen that changes phrases each time you click it =)

Next, I have no idea what this is, it looks like a charm or necklace of some kind because it has a little hole where you would put a chain? I don't even know if I have it facing the right way!

Next is the beautiful post card they have in every box! I don't know who these are but it's beautiful. I wish I could have all of the ones from past boxes!

Next we have one of those flags you would hang in your garden, at least that's where we hang ours!

Next is a beautiful books sleeve. Personally, I like the ones I get from Etsy better because I get them with thick material. But this has an amazing graphic on it and I know no idea who they are =(

Next we have the cutest little container of incinse <-- I spelled that wrong! I think the little tiny plate to sit them on is soooo cute. I'm going to give this to my cousin =)

And finally, we have the book. I hope I like is as I'm not too big into contemporary. We have the signed bookplate and the letter from author as well.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Once again, I'm sorry I didn't have a spoiler card to tell y'all what was what =(

Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs

In this powerful entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Mercy Thompson must face a deadly enemy to defend all she loves...

My name is Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman, and I am a car mechanic.

And a coyote shapeshifter.

And the mate of the Alpha of the Columbia Basin werewolf pack.

Even so, none of that would have gotten me into trouble if, a few months ago, I hadn't stood upon a bridge and taken responsibility for the safety of the citizens who lived in our territory. It seemed like the thing to do at the time. It should have only involved hunting down killer goblins, zombie goats, and an occasional troll. Instead, our home was viewed as neutral ground, a place where humans would feel safe to come and treat with the fae.

The reality is that nothing and no one is safe. As generals and politicians face off with the Gray Lords of the fae, a storm is coming and her name is Death.

But we are pack, and we have given our word.

We will die to keep it.

*Buddy read with some friends at For Love Of A Book!

I loved the book but one little thing made me want to kill some peeps! And there are miniature zombie goats πŸ˜ƒ. Well, there are a lot of things in the book but still, miniature zombie goats πŸ˜ƒ

And Stefan and Zee; just the gang πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

•••••••••

I'm obsessed with this cover!!

Happy Reading Mercy Fans!

The Stranger Inside by Lisa Unger

There’s a stranger inside all of us…

Twelve-year-old Rain Winter narrowly escaped an abduction while walking to a friend’s house. Her two best friends, Tess and Hank, were not as lucky. Tess never came home, and Hank was held in captivity before managing to escape. Their abductor was sent to prison but years later was released. Then someone delivered real justice—and killed him in cold blood.

Now Rain is living the perfect suburban life, her dark childhood buried deep. She spends her days as a stay-at-home mom, having put aside her career as a hard-hitting journalist to care for her infant daughter. But when another brutal murderer who escaped justice is found dead, Rain is unexpectedly drawn into the case. Eerie similarities to the murder of her friends’ abductor force Rain to revisit memories she’s worked hard to leave behind. Is there a vigilante at work? Who is the next target? Why can’t Rain just let it go?

Introducing one of the most compelling and original killers in crime fiction today, Lisa Unger takes readers deep inside the minds of both perpetrator and victim, blurring the lines between right and wrong, crime and justice, and tracing the boundaries where even good people are drawn to do evil things.

Holy shit snacks!

Lisa Unger has done it again; she's good at these books peeps. Wow, how in the frig am I going to say anything without a spoiler <-- yeah, it's one of those.

Okay, short and TTP:

I'm not going to keep telling everyone what the books about, who the MC is, just read it on the summary.

This book was a mind game but a good one. The MC has some stuff when they were young which leads to more stuff when they are older. Don't y'all love when I make no sense?!

Let me just say this book is right on with how I feel about certain things. Well, not all of it, but the main bits. This is like - ugg, can't use that word or y'all will know what I'm talking about....... this is the best kind of {blank} story to me. I'm all about it. The ending was so freaking good, but not some great climax. Just the way we find out what's what, who's who, and what's happening now! I wasn't expecting that little tidbit there at the end, but hey, it's all good. I'm fine with it.

I think fans of Lisa Unger will enjoy this book! I would recommend it!

God's Words To Dream On By Diane Stortz ~ Illustrated by Diane Le Feyer

Hearing Bible stories read out loud at bedtime is often a child's first introduction to spending time with God's Word—and the effects can last a lifetime. In God's Words to Dream On, bestselling author Diane Stortz (The Sweetest Story Bible) and incredible illustrator Diane Le Feyer offer a vibrant combination of story and picture with a "once upon a time" voice that stays true to God’s powerful Word.

Fifty-two stories take children ages 4–8 through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in a way that helps young readers see God's plan from before Creation to send Jesus to make the world right again. These carefully chosen stories teach children about God’s provision, love, and strength—the perfect truths to be in their hearts as they drift off to sleep.

Ideal for birthday, baptism, and "I love you" gifts from parents, grandparents, Sunday school teachers, and godparents, God's Words to Dream On helps children understand the value of reading God's Word every day. Each engaging Bible story includes:

A brief Bible verse called God’s Words to Dream On

A good-night prayer related to the story called Sleepy-Time Prayer

A short summary thought called Bedtime Blessing

God's Words to Dream On also includes ideas for establishing a good bedtime routine with your kids, tips for reading aloud, and inspiration for introducing children to the greatest Book of all.

I love this little book. The colors on the outside of the book are gorgeous; the front having a glitter look to it, but doesn’t come off on your hand. There is also a lovely ribbon bookmark!

The inside illustrations are just as beautiful and written in a format I think is perfect for children. I mean I’m keeping the book for myself and I’m an adult 😊

I would recommend this to any parent looking for a night time bible story book!

*Thank you to BookLookBloggers for a copy of this book!

I'm going to leave this with some pictures inside of the book as well as the front and back cover. These are in no particular order!

Happy Reading!

Gravemaidens by Kelly Coon

The start of a fierce fantasy duology about three maidens who are chosen for their land's greatest honor...and one girl determined to save her sister from the grave.

In the walled city-state of Alu, Kammani wants nothing more than to become the accomplished healer her father used to be before her family was cast out of their privileged life in shame.

When Alu's ruler falls deathly ill, Kammani’s beautiful little sister, Nanaea, is chosen as one of three sacred maidens to join him in the afterlife. It’s an honor. A tradition. And Nanaea believes it is her chance to live an even grander life than the one that was stolen from her.

But Kammani sees the selection for what it really is—a death sentence.

Desperate to save her sister, Kammani schemes her way into the palace to heal the ruler. There she discovers more danger lurking in the sand-stone corridors than she could have ever imagined and that her own life—and heart—are at stake. But Kammani will stop at nothing to dig up the palace’s buried secrets even if it means sacrificing everything…including herself.

Wow! There were some evil bastards in this book with some graphic violence! But all is well my peeps, you can skim over those little portions! I, myself would like to set fire to those evil beings but that is neither here nor there.

I love this freaking book and can we take a moment to love that cover?! I can't wait to have the finished copy in my hands! Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy......

At times you do want to smack some people, including the main character, but that happens.

Kammani is the MC in this book and she's a healer. K has studied under her father who is said to be the best healer in the whole place. But things happened and he isn't any more.

Kammani's best friend is Iltani and I loved her so much. She's fun, spunky and does whatever she has to help her friends. We also have Dagan, well I fell right in love with him. I wanted to smack Kammani for putting him off so much. He's a big love muffin and I ... well.. anyway, moving away from there.

They have this creepy arse ceremony that they put three beautiful girls in with some royal jerk when he dies. Yeah, I know right?! I won't say anything else about that because of spoilers.

Kammni's sister is chosen to be one of the maidens. Her sister is thrilled because she is dumb. Kammni on the other hand tries to find a way to get her sister out of this horrible fate. K ends up trying to save the king dude so that she can save her sister. K finds out all kinds of evil things are going on and thus chaos ensues.

I thought the book was well written, had a great cast, and I'm looking forward to the second book. Gravemaidens is said to be a duology so it won't have that second book syndrome and will hopefully end well for all of those involved!

Before The Broken Star by Emily R. King

Pitched as a dark re-imagining and gender swap of Pinocchio, in which a swordswoman with a clock heart races across the high seas to avenge her family's immortal murderer before she runs out of borrowed time

In the beginning, there was no time, and no man or beast walked the world. Where the ocean met the land, an ivory mare was born, her mane crafted from sea-foam and her body from barnacles. She was the Creator, goddess of all conception and supreme ruler of seven worlds

This book was pretty awesome! I love Everley, who has a clockwork heart because of evil things.

Creator on image

We have wooden soldiers, pixies, elven, pirates, bad @rse women, and so much more! This was a fun book and I look forward to the next book!!

Happy Reading!!

The Scent of Murder by Kylie Logan

First in a new series from national bestselling author Kylie Logan, The Scent of Murder is a riveting mystery following Jazz Ramsey as she trains cadaver dogs.

The way Jazz Ramsey figures it, life is pretty good. She’s thirty-five years old and owns her own home in one of Cleveland’s most diverse, artsy, and interesting neighborhoods. She has a job she likes as an administrative assistant at an all-girls school, and a volunteer interest she’s passionate about—Jazz is a cadaver dog handler.

Jazz is working with Luther, a cadaver dog in training. Luther is still learning cadaver work, so Jazz is putting him through his paces at an abandoned building that will soon be turned into pricey condos. When Luther signals a find, Jazz is stunned to see the body of a young woman who is dressed in black and wearing the kind of make-up and jewelry that Jazz used to see on the Goth kids back in high school.

She’s even more shocked when she realizes that beneath the tattoos and the piercings and all that pale make up is a familiar face.

The lead detective on the case is an old lover, and the murdered woman is an old student. Jazz finds herself sucked into the case, obsessed with learning the truth.

I’m giving this a 3 stars because of dogs! I mean right?! What’s my name?!

Anyhoo, I chose this book because of said dogs. The beginning starts out with Jazz (whom I thought was the dog at first) training a cadaver dog named, Luther, in an abandoned building. Well, good ole Luther finds a real body. Hmmmm... that sucked, but he did his job! Give him the ball!

The dogs aren’t really in the book much. It’s mostly about Jazz and her ex who is the cop on the investigation. This, that, the other happens. They get the killer and the best part, there is a new puppy at the end.

* I would like to thank Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book!
