The Hedge Knight by George R.R. Martin

In this prequel story to George R. R. Martin's Award winning, New York Times Best Selling novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, Night falls over the life of one noble knight and brings the dawn of his squire's knighthood. Dubbing himself "Ser Duncan the Tall," the Hedge Knight sets forth to the tourney at Ashford Meadow in search of fame, glory, and the honor of upholding his oath as a knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Unfortunately for him, the world isn't ready for a knight who keeps his oaths, and his chivalrous methods could be the very cause of his demise. @goodreads

MY REVIEW:

5 STARS

There are a few things I know for sure from reading this novel.... The graphics are awesome! .... Prince Aerion is an arsehole to the nth! .... I love Duncan and Egg :)

Duncan was a squire for the Hedge Knight Ser Alan, but the old man died. He lived to a ripe old age for a Hedge Knight. Duncan decides he wants to be a Hedge Knight and takes it upon himself to do this regardless of the rules. He also decides he's going to go fight in the tourney at Ashford Meadow.

On the way he meets a boy named Egg that wants to be his squire boy. Duncan tells him no, but the stubborn boy follows him and so there you have it :)

Duncan does everything he has to do to get into the tourney. He also meets a nice woman that does puppet shows, her name is Nymeria, and she told him she would redesign his shield. She does a really good job.

Soooo... Duncan and Egg watch some of the challenges and see the horrible Aerion in action!

 :

He does some horrible thing that I'm not telling you which is just appalling. Duncan takes Egg away to try to cheer him up.

A little later Aerion is hurting Nymeria and in turn, Duncan hurts Aerion, the jerk!! This causes all kinds of problems as you can imagine.

There is to be a battle of seven from each side. Let me just say it all works out for the better.

I really loved this graphic novel! I figured I would.. I mean.. George R.R. Martin.. come on!!!
