Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Danger and betrayal, love and loss, secrets and enchantment are woven together in the breathtaking finale to the #1 New York Times bestselling Infernal Devices Trilogy, prequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

THE INFERNAL DEVICES WILL NEVER STOP COMING

A net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. Mortmain plans to use his Infernal Devices, an army of pitiless automatons, to destroy the Shadowhunters. He needs only one last item to complete his plan: he needs Tessa Gray.

Charlotte Branwell, head of the London Institute, is desperate to find Mortmain before he strikes. But when Mortmain abducts Tessa, the boys who lay equal claim to her heart, Jem and Will, will do anything to save her. For though Tessa and Jem are now engaged, Will is as much in love with her as ever.

As those who love Tessa rally to rescue her from Mortmain’s clutches, Tessa realizes that the only person who can save her is herself. But can a single girl, even one who can command the power of angels, face down an entire army?

Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment, and the tangled threads of love and loss intertwine as the Shadowhunters are pushed to the very brink of destruction in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy. @goodreads

MY REVIEW:

4 STARS

I'm not happy about a lot of things in this book and other things I thought were awesome. I can't even really find words to what all I want to say.

 :

There is no way for me to say some of what is on my mind without spoilers. So here we go.

 :

Well first let me start out with how I still love Henry and his quirkiness and I loved how Magnus took a great liking to him too. Henry pulled Magnus right into his crazy world and the two of them together would seem to be able to build a lot of things.

--->EXCERPT<---

"Hand over that vial there on the shelf, would you, Mr. Bane?" asked Henry.
Magnus did so. He was standing in the center of Henry's laboratory, looking around at the gleaming shapes on tables around him. "What are all these contraptions, if I might ask?"
Henry, who was wearing two pairs of goggles at the same time--one on his head and one over his eyes--looked both pleased and nervous to be asked. (Magnus presumed the two pairs of goggles was a fit of absentmindedness, but in case it was in pursuit of fashion, he decided not to ask.)
Henry picked up a square brass object with multiple buttons. "Well, over here, this is a Sensor. It senses when demons are near." He moved toward Magnus, and the Sensor made a loud wailing noise.

I loved the fact that Gideon and Sophie FINALLY got together. But not only that, I loved Gideon prompting Sophie to become a Shadowhunter.

I loved that Will's sister, Cecily, is a bad @ssed shadowhunter in her own right. I also love that there is a little something going on with her and Gabriel. Oh and Gabriel comes out of his jerk of a shell and is actually a good person.

I love that we finally find out what in the sh*t balls Tessa is besides thinking she's some kind of a warlock.

I love the scene when an angel arrives on the scene to save the damn day.

 :

What I HATED!

Well first off I'm in the minority that wanted Jem and Tess to be together and not Will and Tess. But now that I think about it, Jem was too good for Tess.

But what really got me is when Will and Tess think Jem is dead and they just have sex like it's no tomorrow. I don't give a rats @ss if you think you are all going to die, there IS NO excuse. I know this is just a book, but I could never even do that in real life. Oh someone that was family or like family to me just died and I'm going to have sex now. NOOOOO!

And the ending. I mean, what do I say? I'm trying to look at it in a different way because all of these people are different. They are not made as humans or think like we do and I think Cassandra Clare was trying to make it all nice for everyone involved in the book and in reading the book. That part I can see her doing and I like she would do that for everyone.

BUT.....

I so wanted to love the death out of this book. I gave it the four stars because of so many things that went on in the book that were incredible. But the Tessa, Will and Jem thing disappointed me beyond belief. I was hoping Jem would have been cured naturally, not turned into a Silent Brother to wait a million thousand years when Tessa was done with her life with Will and babies and blah blah to get with her. <---- That was a run on sentence right?

Anyway, he somehow finds a way to come back from being a Silent Brother and him and Tessa are going to have their time now. She is immortal and will live forever like Magnus Bane. He was at the end too. It was just so odd that ending. It was like something I could love, but I can't put my finger totally on it and express why I didn't. Just damn it. This is why I don't like love triangles at all, even though this is one of the best ones I have ever read in my life. But, I would just rather not have them. Don't get me wrong, I have read many books with a love triangle but they change. The author changes the people so they are not all nice like Will, Tessa and Jem. In that case it's easy for me to pick someone else in the book. Lol. But here it just pulls at your heartstrings the whole time and I cried and cried. And I don't like that!

Either way the ending was so very damn sad :-(
