The Hammer and the Goat by Peter Newman (The Vagrant 1.5)

This novelette is set parallel to events in THE VAGRANT and tells the story of what the Hammer that Walks and the goat get up to when left to their own devices…

MY REVIEW: 5 Stars ⭐️

Omg!! I was so happy to read this novella about The Hammer that Walks and Goat!! This is when the Vagrant and Harm leave her and goat for a little bit.

We have a sweet little boy named Dally that befriends Hammer and certain chaos ensues. We also get a good backstory on Hammer.

I loved this and needed it right now. I love Hammer and Goat BFF’s forever ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Dally waves and runs off, excitement carrying him quickly away.
Not long after, the goat appears at her side again. The Hammer strokes her ear. 'You like?'
The goat bleats, firm. She does not.
The Hammer chuckles, moves her hand down to the goat’s back instead.

*
The room is not as she left it. Their bag of supplies lies on its side, like a dying creature vomiting its insides across the floor; a stream of half chewed things, still wrapped.
'Goat?'
The goat appears to be asleep.
'Goat?'
The goat looks up, an innocent expression belied by a dirty mouth.
The Hammer points. 'Bad goat.'
The goat snorts and The Hammer shakes her head, going to where she has laid out her armour. Pieces are held up, touched together, angles and flexibility played with.
The goat goes back to sleep.

Happy Reading!
